Newark Steampunk Festival
28-29th August 2021
It was the first Steampunk event at Newark because the one that usually takes place in Lincoln each August Bank Holiday was unable to proceed this year. And it turned out to be an extremely enjoyable occasion with everyone saying we need to make this an annual event.
I went for each of the two days and as Newark is only a 45 min drive for me, I drove from home each day, I had got to know many of the steampunks from previous events I'd attended and made several more new friends. They are a very friendly crowd and the Newark locals were very welcoming to us and curious to learn more about what Steampunks are all about. I had many compliments about my outfits especially about the big hat that I was wearing on the Sunday. I had made the hat myself and I think we may see a few copies at future seampunk events!
This group photo was taken on the Saturday, there were even more Steampunks on the Sunday. I'm in this photo somewhere - can you find me? Photo by William Thomas Sawyer.
The video below is of the procession from the Market Square to the Castle. Some vehicles had to wait for awhile whilst the procession made its way across a zebra crossing on the way to the castle!
